rain

I was playing with a photoshopesque clone we have at school today, and used the liquefy on one of my images. It turned out a little like this, but I like the real thing better.

272

backstop

I probably look a bit weird walking around my sons soccer practice with a camera, but I like the pattern, design, and decay of this old backstop.

pumpkin revisited

I like the texture, and patterns on this little guy.

268

the fields - maryland

We went for a ride this evening. I like the patterns in these fields.

I was looking to take a picture of the empty sky, but just caught a bit of our neighbors house...

23 September 2010

266

stairs

The peeling paint, is a great contrast for the linear shadows, and horizontal line of the steps.

265

when the rain comes...

It seems like forever since it rained last. We had a wonderful downpour for about twenty minutes. Thunder/ lightning, wind and a deluge. Thunderstorms were one of the things I really missed while on St. Helena.

264

wind

Contrast: straight/amorphous, warm/ cold, light/dark, motion/static.

263

pole

I am drawn to telephone poles, and all of the wires connected to them. They have a wonderful graphic quality.

262

silage

I have always been fascinated with these big silos. I think it would be great to convert one into a house.

261

for sale

Today we had a stand at the New Freedom Fest. It was a great day, but very busy.

17 September 2010

260

tree

Again I am playing with odd lights, and long exposures. The tree was blowing in the wind, and gives this a nice sense of motion too.

259

return of the little guy

Cold, damp, and dark but he is still as happy as ever... perhaps he is trying to tell me something.

15 September 2010

258

bench

Lines converging/ diverging, it's hard to tell which it is. Lately I am drawn to more graphic images, stake shadows, textures and lines.

257

shadows on the desk

I haven't been very adventurous with my shooting lately, life being busy and all, however I like the little things I notice and get to capture.

256

grid - house

I think I could do a whole series on my neighbors house. It is a study in monochrome, texture, and geometry.

255

football - feet

I seem to gravitate to images of feet. I shot a bunch of the game, but this was the image that stuck with me. Though it seems to be the antithesis of the intent of the sport.

254

white out

I wanted to capture the overwhelming blast of sun that comes into our side window. It seems to be baking the world outside.

253

samuel's first curb alert

Pattern, repetition, and recycling... what more can one ask for?

252

down under

I like to peer out of our basement windows at the world... I don't know why.

251

walking - shadow

Two former students were walking by, one said take my picture and as they walked away I shot this on the spur of the moment.

250

types of light

More playing around with long exposure, and the variety of lights you find at night. This time there is moonlight, fluorescent, incandescent, sodium vapor, and the barely visible afterglow from sunset.

It was quite dark when I took this very long exposure.

249

shadow

Sometimes I am just drawn to something as I walk by, not even out to photograph. Then I have to run about and get the camera. Maybe that is the advantage for people who carry cameras all the time?

248

going home

A quick shot out of the car on the way home. I like the contrast between the organic, and geometric forms. I also get a sense of motion because of the tilt of the towers.

247

labor day, I'm Back...

We went away for the weekend and had no internet access, and I have gotten behind in posting. I shot everyday, but with the beginning of school, and Genevieve getting ready for a show it has been busy.

I enjoy shooting at carnivals, the people, and rides are interesting.

246

midge toy

I love this little car. I can't recall where it came from. Somehow it seems like I have always had it.

245

traffic in the sky

I am drawn to contrails. I think it is from all of the years I spent as a kid wanting to be a pilot. I think steiglitz would have enjoyed the jet age.
